Future Job Succes Story

Louise came to work at the Old Brewery in August 2010 on the Future Jobs Scheme. She was a very timid and quiet young lady who lacked self confidence and belief in her abilities. She work with is in the office until February 2011. During that time she developed her admin skills, became part of our team and contributed in many ways in helping us deal with student issues and administration. Her confidence grew and she became a much more outgoing person with a growing ability to deal with the public and other visitors.

Her placement finished in February 2011, she then decided to undertake  volunteer work with us for 2 days per week. She came back to us this Summer to work on a temporary basis helping to run our Youth Hostel Operation. This helped her again deal with working in a new team of young people and coping with working shifts on her own. She dealt with visitors from all areas of the world coming to stay with us with a caring and friendly nature. One longer stay older lady from New Zealand always asked for Louise if she needed assistance!

Since September Louise has volunteered with us again. She has been a great asset to us as we processed all of our student application for arrival and then helping them settle in to their new homes.

During all this time Louise has been applying for a full time job. She has now successfully found full time employment at  Carlisle City Council as a Business Admin Apprentice. She will take on an NVQ level 2 Certificate in Business Administration and a Business and Administration Technical Certificate.

She started her job this week and is really enjoying herself. We will miss her happy nature and as an extra pair of admin hands in the office!
