WOMEN'S REFUGE

This project is devoted solely to women and children experiencing or having experienced domestic violence or homelessness.  It provides safe accommodation, practical help and support.

WOMEN'S AID CARLISLE

(01228) 591995

The refuge is a seven bedroomed house which is able to accommodate seven women and up to eleven children.  It is staffed with three refuge workers who are able to give advice on benefits, medical care, legal assistance, children's education and re-housing.

There is an outreach worker to assist woman as they move on from the refuge and back into the community.  The Outreach Worker can provide information options and support for women experiencing domestic abuse but wishing to remain in their own homes.  She helps alleviate the isolation often felt by the woman and gives a sense that someone is available if required - someone who understands and cares. In addition to the specialist workers and safe accommodation the project also benefits from Impact Housings' other services e.g. floating support and resettlement help.
