The staff and residents are a great bunch
Andrew Smith-Robinson – Aged 19
I moved into Whitehaven Foyer just over a year ago.
I was going through a lot of difficulties at home and it just wasn’t working, I had no independence and it was really hard. It meant I was struggling at college but my support at college got me on the waiting list for Whitehaven Foyer. I couldn’t stay at home so I moved in with the Nana of my girlfriend at the time for a few weeks until I could move into the Foyer.
I was really nervous moving in but the residents came and introduced themselves, I have gone from not knowing anyone to having friends and feeling happy. The staff and residents are a great bunch!
I enjoy the Tuesday sessions where we get together and cook, I just made pasta bake last week, we also learn new skills so I feel like I have grown up more.
I’m still at college doing bricklaying at the moment and looking forward to the future.
If I hadn’t have moved in here, I’m not sure what I would be doing, I something think about it – I don’t think I would have been in the best of places and I wouldn’t have grown up like I have now and be able to talk to people like I can now.
