Salterbeck Supported Tenancies
What is it?
The aim of the Salterbeck supported tenancy scheme is:-
To assist young people in establishing themselves in tenancies on the estate and manage them successfully over the longer term.
Who can apply?
Young single people (including lone parents) from the local area aged between 16-26 yrs who require accommodation with support.
Applicants must have the ability to be able to manage, with support, an independent tenancy.
Other considerations:
- How the applicant has managed any previous accommodation
- The Local Lettings Policy will be used as a guideline on allocation
The scheme will take into account the contribution that other agencies might take in meeting the personal support needs of any referral.
People with support needs which cannot be met by this scheme will be considered for other C.A.S.S. and Impact schemes in the area.
How it works If you are referred to the scheme, the support worker will meet with you and discuss what kind of help the scheme can offer. Here are some of the things we can help with:-
- setting up the new tenancy
- day to day living skills and managing your home
- Impact's repairs and maintenance work
- Managing your money and problems with debts
- Making links in the community
- benefit problems and dealing with benefit agencies
- looking for the right kind of education/training/employment opportunities
- dealing with neighbouring disputes/complaints
- up to date information regarding any changes to your tenancy or tenancy issues
