History
Since March 1999 Impact has owned and managed 800 rented homes on Salterbeck, an estate in south Workington.
During the past five year, Salterbeck has been undergoing a radical transformation, including a major restructuring and improvement of it's housing. In this time nearly 120 new houses have been built and the association is now into the third year of a five-year million major repair programme.
A wide range of housing is available including:-
- Three and two bedroom houses
- Two bedroom bungalows
- Two bedroom flats
- Wheelchair user housing
Supported housing is also available to assist young single people taking up a tenancy for the first time and other people with support needs.
The community is well served by local amenities including infant, junior and secondary schools, shops, a Community Resource Centre (the Oval) and sports and recreational facilities.

What we aim to achieve
1. Security for you and your family
We will protect your rights so that you can continue to live in your home.
2. Homes Brought up to modern day standard
We aim to bring all of the homes on the estate up to a standard fit for the 21st Century. The government made an award of £4 million Estate Renewal Challenge Funding which will help to finance an £11 repairs and improvements programme to all rented housing on the estate, without a dramatic rise in rent. We will also provide an efficient, effective and well resources maintenance service, so that once your home is pout into a good condition, we can keep it that way in the future.
3. Rent that is fair and affordable
We want to make sure that the rent you are charged is fair and affordable. We have set our financial plans for the next 30 years. This plan shows low rent rises.
We are a non-profit making association. This means that any surplus we get from rents must go back into the Association.
Key services we provide are: repairs and maintenance, allocations, nuisance/harassment along with other activities and services.
