We look at your present housing situation and award you points in the following circumstances.
Security of Tenure
If you are priority homeless you will receive 150 points.
If you are homeless but not classed as priority homeless you will receive 100 points.
If you are living in hostel accommodation or some other supported accommodation, and are ready to move on to self contained housing, you will receive 80 points.
If you are living in accommodation without a tenancy agreement, or with an agreement that gives restricted protection you will receive 30 points
Property Condition
If your current property is uninhabitable you will receive 70 points. If it needs major repairs/improvements you will receive 30 points. Poor condition you will receive 15 points.
Medical Need
For all degrees of need, points are only awarded if a specific condition or illness exists.
If your medical need is Acute, which makes living in your existing accommodation dangerous or extremely difficult, you will receive 50 points.
If your need is Urgent which makes living in your existing property difficult you will receive 30 points.
If you have Poor Health you will receive 10 points.
Points are only awarded for a medical need where the applicant has difficulty managing their present home because of their medical condition and where moving would help alleviate these problems.
Need for Independence
This applies to persons who have either been living on a permanent basis at their parents/guardians home, or who have moved in with their parents.
Urgent this applies to those who have moved into their present accommodation because of the unsuitability of their previous home and/or to provide support or to be supported they will receive 40 points.
Moderate – persons over 21 years living at home will receive 20 points.
Overcrowding
Applicants who are overcrowded will receive 15 points.
Underoccupation
Where practical, we will allow people we house to have one spare bedroom. However, underoccupation may have an effect on your housing benefit entitlement. Points are given for two or more excess (5 points for two excess bedrooms and 10 for three).
Shared Accommodation/Lacking Amenities
If you live in a house in multiple occupation and share facilities with another household you will receive 40 points.
If you lack kitchen, bedroom and bathroom facilities you will receive 15 points.
Harassment If you have been subjected to threatening and/or abusive behavior by neighbours which has caused considerable stress and anxiety you will receive 15 points.
If you have been physically attacked, or your property, and there is clear intent to cause harm you will receive 30 points.
Annoyance Points are awarded if you are persistently annoyed/disturbed by the behavior of others, 15 or 10 points are given depending upon the severity of the annoyance.
Social Need Points are awarded as follows;
Isolation 15 or 10 points.
Strained relationship 15 or 10 points.
Need for support 10 points.
Elderly having difficulties managing existing home 5 Points Parent living apart from children 10 points.
Other social need 10 or 5 points.
Points are also given for vulnerability if another need exists.
Dependent children under 10 years 15 points.
Dependant children over 10 years 10 points.
Pregnant women 15 points.
Elderly over pensionable age 5 points.
Elderly over 75 years 10 points.
