If you’re not already on the new benefit, ‘Universal Credit’, then then it’s likely that you soon will be.

It combines up to six benefits into one single monthly payment.

Any housing costs are paid to you instead of being paid directly to your landlord.

You may have to wait up to 7 weeks to receive your first payment.

You’ll need to ensure that your rent account is kept up to date – this means making sure that it is paid in advance so that there is always a credit on it.

The easiest way to do this is to start making payments to your rent account now, so that you don’t have as much catching up to do when you do move onto Universal Credit.

Please contact the Income Management Team now to arrange this.
