Northern Flood Conference – Sharing a Voice to protect our communities

Following the severe flooding events, that have caused devastation across the north of England and southern Scotland in the last few years, a group of concerned organisations and proactive flood actions groups have joined together to host a Northern Flood Conference. They felt it was time to bring the northern region together, to share experiences and progress common issues.

The Northern Flood Conference is happening on Saturday 7th May between 10am and 4pm, at the Fusehill campus (Carlisle) of Cumbria University.  This event is now free due to securing additional funding.

All of the Northern Flood Conference committee members have been involved in one way or another with the significant rural and urban flooding that has occurred across the north of England and southern Scotland in the last few years. It is hoped that all attendees will find the conference a stimulating and collaborative event. The conference aims are:

1. Empower flood action groups from the North to address common issues through one voice in order to protect their communities.

2. Debate the common issues of insurance, flood defences and community preparedness.

3. Agree a way forward in order to effect change of the common issues.

We want to make this a productive and insightful day and hope you can join us in Sharing a Voice to protect our Communities

The Northern flood conference has been very well supported by a number of organisations including Cumbrian Community Foundation, Environment Agency, JT Atkinson, Impact Housing and other housing associations affected by the flooding. Therefore we are able to offer this full day conference including lunch for free .

You are invited to come and join the first Northern Flood Conference, on Saturday 7th May in Carlisle, for full details and registration form please contact Emily Thompson on via mobile 0797 1877 424.
