Double Impact
On 20th November 11 young people from South Lakes Foyer were invited to participate in a Leadership Activity day with global training company Impact International at their Windermere headquarters. They are based at the beautiful Merewood Hotel which provided a spectacular back- drop to the day’s events. Transport was provided by Impact International in addition to a delicious buffet lunch, where the South Lakes Foyer residents met delegates from the Seadrill Leadership Programme.
The delegates, from all around the world and employed in a variety of roles within Seadrill, had less than 24 hours notice to design an inspiring and memorable one day event for our residents in order to test their own leadership skills.
Activities included a blindfolded communication exercise, the terrifying pamper pole and a tree abseil. During all the activities delegates and young people encouraged and supported each other to leave their individual comfort zones and try new challenges.
After a much needed tea break each young person paired up with a delegate for a one to one to discuss goals and options for action. By the end of the activities a real bond had developed between everyone involved and finally certificates were presented to the participants in the five star grandeur of the dining room to loud cheers.
Nathan Howes, resident of South Lakes Foyer said :- “ It was great, a really great hotel and I’ve never met so many people from so many countries.”
Jayne Smith, Community Partner Liason Manager at Impact International and her team were also delighted with the success of the day and plan to continue working with us in the future.
