Community Spirit on Salterbeck

Walker Road Play Park Opening and Teddy Bears Picnic

The official opening of the Walker Road play park and Teddy Bears picnic went down a treat when the official opening took place at the beginning of June.

The rain didn’t put people off with 54 local children and adults joining us in our celebrations. The play park was opened by Workington Mayor, Carole Armstrong. The park was re-designed with funding from Cumbria Housing Partners and Workington Town Council. The remainder of the afternoon was organised by Impact Housing and the Town Council which was filled with fun activities, play time and a picnic donated by ASDA (Mossbay Road).

“Thank you so much for our new park!” Mia Dickinson, Salterbeck.

The Big Lunch @ Salterbeck

On Sunday the 7th June, Impact Housing and the Oval Centre hosted a Big Lunch, the day was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by all! Working with Lakes College, Your Derwent and Solway, the SRA and the Town Council we catered for 229 people, with 173 of these people being residents of Salterbeck. The community day celebrated family, friends, food and fun with free activities and entertainment throughout the day.

There will be plenty more fun community events over the summer holidays, so please contact a member of the Neighbourhood and Communities West team today!
