Bramble Court, Brampton near completion!
People in the area, aged over 55 or who have a health and support need are being encouraged to apply for one of the 38 apartments at the new Bramble Court ‘extra care’ housing development, on Union Lane.
The £5.1m scheme – a partnership between Impact Housing Association, Cumbria County Council and Brampton and Beyond Community Trust, which runs the community centre – is due to be finished by the end of September, with its first residents moving in at the start of October.
Impact already operates two extra-care housing schemes in south Cumbria and is keen to develop more to support the ageing population. Brampton’s, however, is believed to be the first in the county to be built on the same site as a community centre.
Almost 20 of the one and two-bedroom apartments have already been allocated, and applications are invited from anyone who may be interested.
Nina Brunton, Impact’s extra-care housing manager, said: “This is Brampton’s first extra-care housing scheme, providing easy to manage accommodation with a range of communal facilities and access to on site support. Although we prioritise applicants who might need this extra support, people often make a positive choice to move to developments like these knowing that if their health needs change in the future they can take advantage of the support on site. The focus is very much on sustaining independence”
Although applications from the local area are also prioritised, Impact are inviting applications from anyone who thinks they would benefit from this type of accommodation.
