Afternoon Tea and Bingo is a competitive event at Carus Green

An Afternoon Tea and Bingo event, funded by Cumbria Community Foundation and the Big Lottery, was hosted by YWCA Kendal and Impact Housing at Carus Green Gold Club on 22nd May 2013, was a huge success.

35 people from the South Lakes Foyer, Hart Street Young People’s Scheme, AGE UK, Jenkins Crag Court and SHIP came together at Carus Green for an afternoon of sandwiches, cakes, scones and cream.  This was followed by a highly competitive game of Bingo called by Nathan and Josh from Hart Street, Ulverston.

Deborah from AGE UK said it “It was lovely to meet the young people and hear their take on life”.  There was great discussion about Welfare Reform and how that would impact on everyone now and in the longer term.

Amy Pearman from Impact Housing said “We had a great group of people, some had met before on other joint events but for some this was their first Inter-Generational event.  We have been running joint activities with a variety of local housing projects such as Jenkins Crag Court, Holehird and Maudes Meadow thanks to funding from Cumbria Community Foundation and Awards for All.  The aim of the project is to break down barriers between different groups and share fun activities which help build positive relationships.  Other activities have included Clay Sculpting, Quizzes and a Tea Dance”
