Domestic Abuse & Sexual Violence Champions Network

Three Networks have been set up across Cumbria - one each in the North, South and West of the county. They are supported by a multi-agency Steering Group and a Domestic Abuse & Sexual Violence Champion (Cumbria) who is based with Let Go, Impact Housing. The model Cumbria has adopted originated in Oxfordshire in 2006. Cumbria's Champion Network was established around 2011. To date there are over 300 champions who are confident that it has made a difference to victims of DV in their area.

DA & SV Champions are individuals who are trained, supported and resourced practitioners across a range of agencies and voluntary sector who agree to be the central point of contact for their organization. This help to assist their agency to enhance their response to individuals affected by domestic abuse & sexual violence in Cumbria.

Champions meet on a regular basis to add to their knowledge and to build professional relationships. Champions have access to:
local resources, information and campaign material;

• A countywide programme of training
• Peer support through the network attendees and meetings
• Ongoing support from the Steering group, the DA&SV Champion, Community Safety Partnerships and the Domestic Violence Business Manager.

Mangers/strategic leads are requested to select individual(s) for the Champion(s) role and to encourage and support them at all levels of the agency/organisation. An agency agreement is attached which sets out the expectations for Managers, Champions and the network. A rolling programme of training/network meetings and events has been timetabled. You will need to complete a champion agreement and return it to Donna Lancaster ( DA&SV Champion) via a scanned copy by email or by post to Impact Housing Association, Centre 47, Nelson Street, Carlisle, CA2 5NE. In addition you will need to include your name, contact details and email address with your choice, you will then receive a confirmation email. Please note, only delegates who have followed this process will be allocated a place on the training as places are limited.
