There are two sections of work, which the team provides for young people. Firstly the team manages a range of tenancies for young people both on the Salterbeck Estate and in Workington Town Centre, the team manages these tenancies and provides support to the tenants. Secondly the team offers support to young tenants living with a range of landlords including Impact, Westfield Housing Association and Copeland Borough Council.

The aim of the Scheme
The aim of the scheme is to assist young people under the age of 25 in establishing themselves in tenancies throughout West Cumbria and to enable them to successfully sustain their tenancy. The scheme also aims to empower young tenants to access training and education in the area.

Who can apply?
The scheme is available to all young people (including single parents) from the local area, aged between 16-25, who require accommodation. Supported Joint Tenancies are also considered.
Back
Other considerations:
· How the applicant has managed any previous accommodation.
· In the case of the Salterbeck Tenancies the Local Lettings Panel will be used as a guideline on allocation.
· The scheme cannot accommodate those with very high personal support needs.
We will take into account the contribution that other agencies might take in meeting the personal support needs of any referral. People with support needs, which cannot be met by this scheme, will be considered for other C.A.S.S. and other Impact schemes in the area.
