WORKINGTON BREWERY

Those of you that know Workington will know the "green tower" of the old Matthew Brown's Brewery. The Building is probably Workington's most prominent landmark. Unfortunately, it has been lying derelict for over 10 years.

Impact is negotiating with the owners to buy the Brewery and convert it into 22 houses and flats - with houses in the Wines and Spirits Store and flats in the 7 storey tower. The main building used to have massive water tanks on the top floor, with a malting floor below and brewing tanks below that. However, nothing is left now but the shell.

This will be Impact's biggest conversion scheme for some time, with a total cost of £2.5m. It will make a significant contribution towards the upgrading of this end of the town and provide town centre housing which we always find is very popular.

We are hoping to convert the top of the tower into 4 flats for sale. So, if you know anyone who wants to buy a penthouse flat with the best views in the area, let us know.
