IMPACT HOUSING AND THE CARLISLE FLOODS

We have had substantial problems with flood damage to properties in Carlisle and Keswick. Damage due to the gales is thankfully far less extensive. Luckily there does not seem to be any injury.
Damage is worst to our houses on Milbourne St., the student Halls of Residence and the men's hostel at Bridge Lane. Carlisle. The ground floor of all of those properties is completed gutted, with extensive water damage, mud and in some cases sewage contamination. Damage will take months to make good.
Eden Rural Foyer Just Escapes The Floods
We have set up a fund for those small number of tenants who have nothing. We have found short term accommodation nearby for the Bridge Ln. men. We have relocated students to upstairs rooms.

Tenants and staff have been marvellous, especially over the weekend when we opened the cafe at Centre 47 for our homeless men and made arrangements for students to stay at the Council Reception Centre.

The long clean up is now starting. The insurance claim may approach £2m. Some people have lost everything.

IF THERE ARE ANY IMPACT TENANTS READING THIS WHO HAVE NOT ALREADY CONTACTED US, PLEASE RING OUR CARLISLE OFFICE (01228 633 600). THERE ARE A SMALL NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO ARE AWAY AT PRESENT (MAINLY ON HOLIDAY OR VISITING RELATIVES) WHO WE HAVE NOT YET BEEN ABLE TO CONTACT.
