Mission
Centre 47 is a place where young people want to come and where they leave with a positive sense of achievement. It provides support, personal development, training and employment opportunities tailored to their individual needs. It plays its part to ensure that all young people have the opportunity to fulfil their potential.
Achievements
Over the last 5 years we have trained and supported over 250 young people, many of them moving into employment.

Background
Carlisle is Cumbria's regional centre. There are some thriving areas of the city but also pockets of severe disadvantage with levels of unemployment and disaffection among young people. Most of Cumbria's temporary and supported accommodation for young people is situated in Carlisle. Whilst there is good provision of supported housing, there are poor links to housing, training and employment and many young people feel marginalised.

Services We Offer

Training
|
This varies on individual needs from basic life skills, health and safety, first aid and customer care to wider ranges of technical training in Customer service, Warehouse, retail, IT, catering and many other areas. |

Employment
|
There are activities to guide and support people seeking employment with job search. We have workshops, working with recycling projects, also workshops/office space and support on site to help young people develop their employment requirements. We also network with local businesses to find employment. |

Cumbria Furniture Service
|
CFS was established in 1995 and has developed into a large recycling project providing training and employment in recycling furniture, bikes, computers and some white goods. we have a store in Carlisle and in Penrith, click on the link to the left for more details. |

Hubbub Cafe
|
A new cafe has opened in early 2004 providing food and catering for customers and the needs of those using the training/meeting rooms. This cafe also works with young people interested in working in the catering industry by providing practical on the job training. Click on the link to the left for more details. |

Training and Meeting Rooms
|
2 rooms are available for meetings/training requirements seating 12 and 20 people. Full catering can be provided from Hubbub - tea/coffee, breakfast meetings, lunches/buffets.

Car Parking

The Site has off street parking for those visiting, using the cafe and the training/ meeting rooms. |

Impact Housing Association is leading the initiative with support from local agencies. The centre is based close to the city centre in Nelson Street, Denton Holme and linked to rural communities.
