Older people
For those over the age of 55 we offer a community based living scheme, where each resident has their own self contained flat within a court or building which is also monitored by our helpful and friendly support staff.
Extra Care Housing offers a new way of supporting you to live independently. It gives you the security and privacy of a home of your own, a range of facilities on the premises, with 24-hour care services available if you need them.
Most extra care housing schemes have a mix of more independent residents together with those who are more frail. Some will get a lot of care and support and others will live very independently. The accommodation will be accessible and easy for you to manage.
Impact’s extra care schemes also offer sheltered housing. The aim is that there is a broad mix of people within the scheme. You don’t have to need care to be eligible for sheltered housing and you can be as private and as independent as you like. You will however, be safe in the knowledge that your home is secure and if you do ever need help in the future you can access this without having to move.
As well as living in your own home you will continue to have control over your finances and privacy, and choice about how much you mix with other residents. The housing support and care staff will support you in maintaining your independence for as long as possible and you can keep up your usual routines and activities in your local area. Where needed, we will help you to access local amenities or services so you can continue to enjoy life in your local community.
In extra care housing there is a care team based on site, 24 hours a day. They are there to provide care to residents who need it and the care can be increased, or reduced, as necessary. The aim is that you will not have to move if your health needs change in the future.
For Impact’s Extra Care schemes, you will pay a weekly charge for both the rent and all service charges. The care element will be paid separately to either Social Services or the care provider. The amount you pay will vary depending on your individual situation and your income. The rent, for example, may be rebated if you are entitled to receive housing benefit and a financial assessment will be carried out by Social Services to determine how much you will be required to contribute towards your personal care.
