South Lakes Foyer are busy
Homeless Christmas Lunch
On Monday 19thDecember South Lakes Foyer organised and hosted a 4 course Christmas Lunch for local homeless people.
People involved in local homeless schemes and projects were invited to have a 4 course Christmas Lunch prepared by Mr and Mrs Capstick, who have recently taken over the café at South Lakes Foyer. Staff from the Foyer and Miller Court helped to serve the traditional Christmas meal, which received high praise from all 30 people who attended. The meal was followed by a film chosen by everyone, so the afternoon was an enjoyable viewing of recently remade A-Team.
Mr and Mrs Capstick have now officially opened The Lunchbox Café at South Lakes Foyer Monday to Saturday, so please come along and try homemade cakes or freshly prepared snacks.
We may hold this event again this year so will keep everyone updated with any fundraising activities for the event so you can help to ensure we host another successful Christmas meal this year.
Volunteer Fayre
On Tuesday 10thJanuary 2012 we held our first Volunteers Fayre at South Lakes Foyer. We had a wide range of voluntary organisations exhibiting including MIND, Guiding Association, St John’s Hospice and Barnardo’s. We were able to arrange local radio advertising which resulted in the event being well attended by people from the South Lakes region. Each exhibitor made contact with potential volunteers and some of the Young People from the foyer were able to access local organisation to discuss volunteer opportunities.
