Xmas Panto – The Wizard of Oz

It was fabulous “Oh no it wasn’t”… “Oh yes it was!”

The two afternoon performances over two days went really well and to an audience of over 400!  We raised nearly £300 pounds in donations taken at the door for the crew & cast’s nominated local voluntary organisation.  In addition, a group of volunteers made a gorgeous buffet for after the 2ndperformance, which over a 100 people enjoyed and met & mixed with the cast.  This saved us in the region of £600.  The panto involved fifteen agencies, with staff and service users from supported accommodation schemes and drug & alcohol services.  and...

Some comments from the cast include: 

“Being part of this has really helped me, I’ve cut my drinking down, and I’ve made twenty new friends. It’s just been such a great experience and has got me out of the house and get mixing with people again.” Age 37 

“I’ve never done anything like this.  Everyone has been really encouraging and we’ve been like a family supporting each other.  Getting up on stage to all those people was the scariest and most amazing moment of my life. I want to do it again!” Age 21

Supporting People – “Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed the Pantomime yesterday.  It was great fun and unfortunately we were in the firing line of the water gun a few times, which to be honest added all the more to the fun!”

Drug & Alcohol Recovery Team (DART) – “Just wanted to send my congratulations to yourself & the team involved in making the panto such a success. It was great. I was accompanied by several male service users in there late 40’s/50’s who had never been to a panto before & they were blown away by it. Well done.”

Riverside– “Just to say the panto’ was brilliant, seriously funny and the enthusiasm of the performers shone through. A real triumph when you think what some of the people have been through.”
