ESF funded GreenWays to Work stages Cumbrian Conference
Impact are leading the way in Cumbria by using European funding to secure training and employment in the Low Carbon Economy, strengthening communities and benefitting those living in and around Workington and the West Coast
A conference at Lakes College on the 13thof September will appeal to those interested in West Cumbria’s local economy and the provision of skills linked to climate change. Over 13 organisations and industry specialists are presenting and the event has attracted an international expert on Industrial Ecology who will deliver a presentation on ‘Turning Environmental Problems into Business Opportunities’.
In 2012/13, over £22million of investment in domestic energy efficiency refurbishment will be spent in West Cumbria alone.
What will this mean for local Cumbrian businesses involved in construction, plumbing, electrical work or the energy supply chain?
- How can small companies win contracts in the face of European tendering processes?
- What are the opportunities for skills training and apprenticeships from local colleges?
- What can we learn from best practice in Sweden and how will Britain’s Energy Coast respond to the challenge of developing the low carbon economy?
- How are Housing Associations tapping into European grants and partnering energy companies to bring this investment to West Cumbria?
Who Should Attend?
Anyone with an interest in West Cumbria’s local economy and climate change skills; local councillors; policy makers; housing associations; businesses interested in winning contracts to deliver the programme; anyone involved in the energy supply chain; members of the public interested in energy efficiency refurbishment
