Centre 47 Centre 47 Furniture Services

What we do

Centre 47 is a place which provides support, personal development, training and employment opportunities for people on low incomes or unemployed.

The Centre is split into various different projects which encompass

Who with

Centre 47 works with many of the local agencies who support low income, unemployed people i.e. New Deal & Entry to Employment projects, providing work placements enabling people to get back into full time work.

We also work with groups who are supporting people with furniture requirements, helping them to get established into local housing.

Local schools use C47 for day work placements for 14-16 year old pupils.

Recycling at Penrith Furniture ServicesWhy

We have developed projects which can enhance the lives of those we house and the local community by providing working projects which offer job placements and help improve the environment we live in by recycling and reducing waste.

Funding

All projects are initially supported with grant funding but we look to them becoming self sustainable within 3 years. We also raise finance to expand the projects.

Funding has been obtained from various sources including local and national trusts supporting training and employment initiatives. Plus government initiatives also supporting recycling projects.

How

Centre 47 is based in Carlisle providing the above services and has developed 2 further sites at Penrith and Ulverston which both provide a furniture recycling service.

All 3 sites are open to the general public along with referrals from local agencies either supporting people in their homes or providing a link to employment opportunities.
