Our View

We believe that any form of domestic abuse is unacceptable and should not be tolerated.

What help can Impact provide?

We employ a number of staff throughout the County who are experienced in dealing with domestic abuse and who understand the issues that people who have suffered abuse face. We offer a range of services across Cumbria to support people who have suffered abuse. Although our services are geared to helping women over 16, we will put men or those under 16 in touch with other agencies who can help them.

Outreach and Floating Support

We have staff who work in the community or in people’s own homes to provide advice and guidance. This advice can cover

Our support is geared to people’s individual needs.

Emergency Housing

We have accommodation which is designed for women either with or without children who need immediate safe housing.
This is shared housing with 24 hour staff cover and additional security measures. As well as providing housing with support we also have facilities for children and a dedicated play worker on site.

Rehousing Services

We consider applications for housing from people who are suffering domestic abuse, taking account of particular needs with regard to safety and security. In some parts of the County we operate “safe houses” which are self contained properties let on a short term basis until more permanent accommodation is available. Where we cannot help with rehousing, we work with other housing associations and agencies to help people to find suitable accommodation with or without additional support.
