Jenkins Crag Court, Rydal Road, Kendal

From conception to completion...

Bacon butties at Rydal road

Friday 20th April saw the Mayor of Kendal carrying out the ceremony to cut the first sod which launched the building work for Impact's 3rd and biggest sheltered housing scheme to date in South Lakes. Staff from Impact joined the Mayor, our partners and the local communities to celebrate the event in true Impact style with bacon butties and mugs of tea. Unbelievably for the lake District, after a wet start the rain stayed away!

The site is part of a 130 unit development - the remainder is being developed by Russell Armer, with half for outright sale and half being sold to Impact for first time buyers and affordable rent.

Building Rydal Road

This is a most innovative and exciting project as it is a State of the Art development with assistive technology and extensive facilities for residents and the local community.

The project is funded by £4m capital cost from Housing Corporation, South Lakeland District Council and Impact loans, with an on site Extra Care service funded by Social Services...additional revenue from Supporting People.

The completed building

Completion of the project came in May 2008 when the keys were handed to housing management. The first residents have now moved in.
